A–G requirements met

Counted across grades 9 to 12, and only where the grade was a C or better.
Repeat required
1 semesterof A–G coursework earned a D or an F. Those grades still count toward the GPA above. They do not satisfy A–G, so the course has to be repeated with a C or better.
The rules
The two rules families confuse
The UC GPA
Tenth and eleventh grade only. A–G courses only. One honors point per approved semester passed with a C or better, capped at eight. A D still earns points here, which is why a family can read a healthy number and miss the problem underneath it.
A–G eligibility
Fifteen year-long courses across seven subjects, grades nine through twelve, and a course counts only with a C or better. The D that earned GPA points above does not satisfy the requirement, so that course has to be repeated.
Honors weight comes from the list UC publishes for your own high school, never from what a course is called. Pick your school in the platform and it reads that list directly. Why the arithmetic is free.

Who does the work
I’m Austin Choi. I studied Electrical Engineering at UCLA, and I partnered with graduates of USC to build and run this. I found the college application process confusing in ways it did not need to be, so we built the practice and the platform I wish my family had.
The requirements were scattered across a dozen pages, and the rules that mattered were buried. I spent more time working out the process than working on the application. Most of that difficulty wasn’t the work itself. It was never quite knowing where I stood.
The counseling guides the application. The tutoring fixes the transcript underneath it.

Transfer
Transferring from a community college
At a California community college, the rules change and they disagree with each other. Cal-GETC needs a C. The CSU Golden Four accept a C minus. UC does not require Cal-GETC at all, and asks for the seven-course pattern instead. One grade can clear one and fail another.
