UC GPA Calculator.
This uses UC’s rules rather than your school’s GPA: only 10th and 11th grade count, only A–G courses count, and honors points are capped at eight semesters.
It reports A–G eligibility separately, because the two rule sets disagree. A D still earns GPA points, but it does not satisfy A–G, and that course has to be repeated.
Grade 10 counts toward both your UC GPA and A–G.

How UC calculates your GPA
The rules behind the number above, and the questions families ask most.
What is the UC GPA?
It is the GPA the University of California calculates from your transcript, and it is usually different from the one your school reports. UC counts only A–G courses taken in 10th and 11th grade, gives 4 points for an A, 3 for a B, 2 for a C, 1 for a D and 0 for an F in each semester, then adds honors points.
Do 9th and 12th grade count?
Not toward the UC GPA. They do count for A–G eligibility, which covers all four years, so a 9th grade course still has to be passed with a C or better.
Do pluses and minuses count?
No. UC ignores them, so a B+ and a B- both count as a B. That is why the calculator only asks for the letter.
How do honors points work?
Each semester of a UC-approved honors course passed with a C or better earns one extra point. UC counts at most 8 of those semesters, and no more than 4 from 10th grade. The calculator checks your school's own UC-approved course list and tells you when one of those limits applied.
Does a D count?
For the GPA, yes: a D earns 1 point. For A–G eligibility, no. A course needs a C or better to count toward A–G, so a class with a D has to be repeated.
What UC GPA do I need?
UC's minimum is 3.0 for California residents and 3.4 for everyone else. That is the floor for being eligible to apply, not the GPA that gets most students admitted.
Why is my UC GPA different from my school's GPA?
Schools often include 9th and 12th grade, count classes that are not A–G, and weight honors their own way, often with no cap. UC recalculates the GPA from your transcript under its own rules, so for UC that is the number that matters.
